SPLASH PR THE BIG WINNER AT PRISM 2012

Splash PR was named the Overall Gold Award Winner for its Vote for Table Mountain Campaign, at the 15th annual PRISM Awards held at the Hyatt Regency Johannesburg, in Rosebank on 
Sunday 25 March.

Splash was presented with the Jenna Clifford Floating Trophy and is automatically entered into the IPRA Golden World Awards, in recognition of its successful campaign to get Table Mountain named as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

The Cape Town-based, boutique agency also won gold in the Media Relations category, gold in the Environmental category, silver in the PR on a Shoestring category and bronze in the Travel category.

Table Mountain’s mammoth campaign to be named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature began in 2009, with the sites to be chosen by ordinary people in the largest worldwide democratic election. Splash began work to encourage votes for Table Mountain to ensure it made it onto the list of 28 finalists.

In January 2011, following the success of phase one, Splash was engaged by the Table Mountain Official Supporters Committee to manage PR for the final phase of the bid. This presented an incredible opportunity to raise awareness for Table Mountain as a natural wonder and market South Africa to the world.

Splash worked alongside the Official Supporters Committee, and drew on the support of two Nobel Peace Prize winners, the Springbok rugby team, as well as radio DJs, TV presenters and other celebrities to convince South African media and the public of the need to support the campaign. The result: on 11/11/2011 Table Mountain was named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature – and visitor numbers to Table Mountain Cableway reached a record high of 116 000 in December 2011.

Sabine Lehmann, the CEO of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, a long time Splash client and a prime mover behind the Vote for Table Mountain Campaign, said: “We have been working with Splash PR for five years and we knew they were GOLD all along.”

Kerry Seymour, the founder and managing director of Splash PR, paid tribute to all who contributed to the success of the Vote for Table Mountain Campaign including Lehmann and her team at the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company. Seymour also singled out Splash account manager Christine Pearson for her hard work and dedication to the project.

Brett Bellinger the marketing director of PUMA SA, another of Splash’s long time clients, added his congratulations: “Congrats our legendary PR agency. Agency of the Year is a truly deserved title. From PUMA’s side though it is Agency of the Decade!”
