The day originated in the ‘90s as a revolt against Valentine’s Day, when a group of “unattached” university students in China declared 11/11 a symbolic date to celebrate being single.
The 11 November movement quickly gained popularity and has become a worldwide phenomenon, synonymous with singles parties and online shopping indulgence.
Chinese online giant Alibaba first introduced the concept to the online world in 2009, and now November 11 has become one of the planet’s top 24-hour, super sale dates along with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Joining the global celebration, TFG has partnered with chef, food stylist and author Zola Nene, in a lighted-hearted social media video, designed to appeal to singletons and encourage them to indulge themselves this 11/11.
