ARTISTS CREATE ART FROM WINE
August 2007
TOKARA winery has launched its second annual Wine Made Art event,
featuring 20 works created by eight Cape Town artists, at the South
African National Gallery in Cape Town.
The artists, who used TOKARA wine as inspiration and as a medium,
produced works in a variety of styles in keeping with the thinking
behind the Wine Made Art event which was launched to encourage new
and creative methods of incorporating wine experience in art.
The featured artists are Tamsin Relly, Karen Stewart, Mine Jonker,
Carmen Ziervogel, Corlie de Kock, Lynette Bester, Mieke Wertchnig
and Kara Wertchnig.
The Wine Made Art event was conceptualised by Cape Town agency
Riot, which was awarded a Golden Loerie for the campaign in July
2007.
The launch of the Wine Made Art event coincided with the release
of TOKARA's wines for 2007 which include the debut Sauvignon blanc
from the winery's Highlands property in the Elgin district.
The public can view the Wine Made Art at TOKARA on the R310 outside
Stellenbosch. The winery is open from 9am to 5pm weekdays and from
10am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. For more details visit www.tokara.com
or email or phone +27 21 808 5900.
