Cape designer Aidan Bennetts has launched an exclusive range of contemporary eco-friendly furniture at @home livingspace stores country wide. The essence of the range is simplicity, focusing on fixed clean lines, solid shapes and comfort.

Bennetts, television’s DIY star, has incorporated eco-friendly moa-bamboo in his AB collection which has 10 signature pieces and comprises a coffee table, design screen, café chairs, mirrors and a magazine rack. The furniture is designed to work as stand-alone pieces or as a combined collection.

Bennetts said he was attracted to @home livingspace because of the brand’s enthusiasm for his eco-friendly products. “I am thrilled to be showcasing the first range of AB furniture in @home livingspace stores as I share a similar design ethos with the company.”

The Mao-bamboo that Bennetts has incorporated in his furniture, has won international acclaim because of the sustainable method used in harvesting – the mature stems are removed only once the replacement stems have started to grow, which means forested areas are not depleted.

Bamboo is a fast replenishable natural resource with a positive carbon footprint. This means that bamboo absorbs more carbon dioxide during its growth, than is released during the products manufacturing process.

Marketing manager Rebecca Warne said that Bennetts’ ethical approach to furniture design made it an easy choice. “We were attracted to Aidan’s passion for creating beautiful furniture combined with using environmentally sustainable materials.”
