WINE AND WIT ON CANVAS AT TOKARA
September 2008

Table Mountain Aerial Cableway - Sunset SpecialTOKARA winery has launched its third annual Wine Made Art event, featuring light-hearted works by six Cape Town artists guaranteed to generate smiles and belly laughs.

The Wine Made Art event was launched to encourage new and creative methods of incorporating wine experience in art. This year the artists, who used TOKARA wine as inspiration, were briefed to produce humorous cartoons. The public can view the artworks at the winery where they will be exhibited until the end of December 2008.

The launch of the Wine Made Art event coincided with the release of TOKARA’s wines for 2008 which include a maiden vintage Chardonnay from the winery’s Siberia property in the Walker Bay district, as well as a debut TOKARA Noble Late Harvest.

The featured artists are Johan Stapelberg, Sandy Mitchell, Brice Reignier, Sam Wilson, Luis Tolosana and Ian Jepson. They have produced a selection of works that capture the lighter side of all things wine. Their works will be on public display at the winery until the end of December 2008.

The Wine Made Art event was conceptualised by Cape Town agency Riot (now Coley Porter Bell), which was awarded a Golden Loerie for the campaign in July 2007.

TOKARA, on the R310 outside Stellenbosch, is open from 9am to 5pm weekdays and from 10am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. For more details visit www.tokara.com or email or phone +27 21 808 5900.
