Two countries that normally face battle on the rugby field and cricket pitch are finally uniting as a team…in the kitchen that is. Australian celebrity and television chef Curtis Stone and South African Peter Tempelhoff, executive chef of The Collection by Liz McGrath, will come together for one night only at an exclusive gala dinner to be held at the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel on Monday October 27 this year.

The talented chefs will combine their culinary genius to create a six-course gourmet extravaganza paired with fine Cape wines. The courses will reflect the pair’s individual influences and personalities.

Tempelhoff met Stone while they were both working at Michelin star-rated chef Marco Pierre White’s restaurant, Quo Vadis, in London and wanted to celebrate their reunion as fellow chefs.

“As Curtis has never cooked with South African produce before, we wanted to create a menu that celebrated my country’s fantastic seasonal ingredients and local concepts, “says Tempelhoff.

The friends and super-chefs share the same cooking philosophy that is “ingredient-based cooking; in harmony with the seasons.”

Stone is in Cape Town to launch his signature range of kitchenware, Kitchen Solutions, which will be available exclusively in @home stores next year.

Australian-born Stone, who has been voted one of People magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive, found fame on BBC Food’s Surfing the Menu and My Restaurant Rules. The idea to create his Kitchen Solutions range came about while he was in the USA filming his new television series Take Home Chef (currently on SABC 3, Saturdays at 1.30pm). Stone was intrigued as to why some professional tools-of-the-trade had not been adapted to the needs of home cooking enthusiasts.

“Sensational food is part inspiration and part talent, but without the right tools even professional chefs can struggle to create the best results,” says Stone.

With this in mind, Stone set about designing innovative and practical kitchenware to make cooking at home more professional, modern and sexy.
