TUTU SAYS VOTE FOR TABLE MOUNTAIN
May 2010

Splash PR and the ArchbishopArchbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is urging South Africans and international fans to cast their vote for Table Mountain in the Official New7Wonders of Nature campaign.

An iconic South African and a Nobel Peace Laureate, Archbishop Tutu is the official ambassador for Table Mountain's bid to be named one of the Official New7Wonders of Nature - a competition entirely determined by online, phone-in and SMS votes from the public, with the organisers aiming to attract more than 1 billion votes globally.

Fans whose first round votes in 2009 ensured the majestic flat-topped mountain made the shortlist of 28 natural sites (including the Grand Canyon, the Amazon and the Great Barrier Reef), need to vote again to ensure its progress to the final seven.

Significantly 98% of the second round votes received since Table Mountain was shortlisted have come from outside South Africa. Commenting on this the Archbishop said: "Isn't it fantastic that people from outside of South Africa recognise Table Mountain as a treasure? Now as South Africans must open our eyes and see the treasure in our midst."

The Archbishop is suggesting that fans host Table Mountain voting dinner parties: "We can invite friends around for dinner and then get them all to vote."

Visit www.votefortablemountain.com to vote and for more information about Table Mountain's bid. Voting ends in November 2011.
